Ski for Heat Benefit Concert: Bob Stannard and Those Dangerous Bluesmen

January 12, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Ski for Heat, the local nonprofit that raises funds for heating fuel assistance, is thrilled that “Downtown” Bob Stannard & Those Dangerous Bluesmen will again be providing a great evening of entertainment to raise money to help those in our community who are struggling to stay warm this winter, as well as to bring attention to this important need.

The Hot Blues for Cold Nights concert is on Saturday, Jan. 12, at 7 p.m. at the Eagles Club on Routes 11/30 in Manchester.

“This concert and dance party has become an annual event that people call the most fun night out of the winter,” said Ski for Heat event founder Martha Robertson. “It is an amazing group of accomplished musicians — who have played with or opened for some of the great names in the music industry around the world — and they give an incredible, all-out performance.

“This isn’t down-and-out blues, it’s `get out of your chair and dance or sit back, tap your toes, and enjoy the show’ blues,” she said. “These guys are the best; it is so obvious that they get together for this concert because they want to help Ski for Heat, and also because they have such a good time doing it.”

Tyler Electric & Security Inc. of Dorset is the presenting sponsor for the concert. Clark’s Quality Foods in Londonderry is the title sponsor for Ski for Heat.

“We are honored to have Clark’s Quality Foods and Tyler Electric with us again this year. They are so community-minded and have been wonderfully supportive of Ski for Heat over the years,” said Robertson.

The suggested concert donation is $20; however, people are asked to make a donation at whatever level is comfortable for them. “If you just paid your bills and have no extra money to spend, please still join us,” she said.

Tickets will be available at Northshire Bookstore in Manchester Center or at the door.

This winter, there will not be skiing events at Wild Wings and Bromley. Ski for Heat is a 501(c)(3) non-profit in Peru. Founder Martha Robertson has been raising money for heating fuel assistance since 2001. Ski for Heat is run entirely on volunteered hours—no portion of funds raised goes toward payroll or compensation. Information: SkiForHeat.org
