Movie Premiere: “Second Act”

On December 21st, opening night of the new film, Second Act, its writer/producer and one of its stars present a special reception and screening to benefit local nonprofits.
When a big box store employee (Jennifer Lopez) reinvents her life and her lifestyle, she gets the chance to prove to Madison Avenue that street smarts are as valuable as a college degree, and that it’s never too late for a SECOND ACT.
Two locals involved in the film, its writer and producer, Justin Zackham (The Bucket List, The Big Wedding), and one of its stars, Treat Williams (Once Upon A Time in America, Hair, Prince of the City), will host a special evening premiere. A 5:30pm reception at the stART Space gallery in Manchester will feature a meet and greet with the two alongside plenty of food and drink as well as raffle items, including some autographed items from both Lopez and Williams. The party then moves to Village Picture Shows for a 7:00pm screening of Second Act followed by a Q&A with Zackham and Williams.
Tickets to the event include the meet and greet reception, film screening, and Q&A session. Cost is $50 per person with proceeds from the event benefiting Grateful Hearts and the Burr and Burton Academy Success Program.
Grateful Hearts transforms donated produce from local farms and producers into meals in certified commercial kitchens. Volunteers glean, chop chat to create meals that are then packaged, frozen and distributed to food cupboards, backpack programs, and other organizations serving those who are food and nutrition insecure in the communities it serves.
Burr and Burton Academy’s Student Success Program primarily serves first-generation, college-bound students and assists them in developing college and career readiness skills, strength of character, and a sense of purpose that will propel them toward a lifetime of success.
